The Baptist Denomination is diverse in its expression. There are various kinds of Baptist churches, including: Southern, National, American, Free Will and Primitive. Although diverse in expression all Baptist churches share some common beliefs.
Listed below are four of the more common beliefs shared by Baptists.
•Baptists believe the whole Bible to be the infallible Word of God and the supreme standard and guide in matters of faith and practice (II Timothy 3:14; II Peter 1:21; Isaiah 40:6-8).
•Baptists believe that salvation is wholly of God, through the sacrificial death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ, and He alone (John 3:15-17; Romans 5:8-17). Those who are saved are saved by Faith, through Grace not of works (Ephesians 2:8, 9).
•Baptists believe in the theocracy of the church, the sovereignty of God, and the equality of each member (Col 1:18; Matt 20:24, 25; I Corinthians 12:12-17).
•Baptists believe in the eternal security of the believer in Jesus Christ (John 3:15-17; Romans 8:33-39; I John 5:9-13).
Unlike other Protestant denominations, Baptists do not adhere to the Episcopal or Presbyterian forms of government, but choose to be autonomous.
The Holy Spirit operates through the Pastor, who shares the vision of the Lord with the membership. The vision is sanctioned by the Word of God, the Bible. Although Mt. Moriah is an autonomous church it is affiliated with the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.
